I Got It From My Mama

I started thinking about something this morning and now I can’t stop. I know  A LOT of female musicians right now. It’s really great and I’m sure this is the most Cincinnati has ever had. With that being said, I’ve seen a lot of social media posts of girls talking about their dads’ musical influences, whether it’s them playing their guitars or being involved in the music industry, etc. I, myself, am guilty of this. I play some of my grandpa’s cymbals and I think its so cool! I’m a fourth generation drummer! But here’s my question, where are the girls that have inherited instruments from their moms?

They have to be out there. There are enough women in rock that would have daughters now… I want to hear their stories. I have every instrument since I started playing and would LOVE to someday give them to a daughter or a son. With that being said, if you are someone who has inherited an instrument from a female in the family, please contact me. I would love to interview you.

Here’s a song Bjork wrote for her song, “Mouth’s Cradle.”

An avid rock musician and enthusiast as well as a rock history buff.

i inherited my first guitar from my mom, a Yamaha acoustic that she got when she was 17 and I still play it to this day. I wrote my first songs on it and it’s one of my favorite possessions.
